As you are well aware, we are currently in unprecedented and very difficult times. The COVID-19 virus has accelerated more quickly than anyone had ever envisaged and is likely to continue to do so for several more weeks, impacting on us all heavily as a nation. As Police Officers we have an extremely important roll to play during this time and more is likely to be asked of you all as we move forward.

INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) & YOUR TRAVEL POLICY

In the first instance you should obtain and follow advice given by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and local or UK health authorities.

Where you have a query that relates to your travel plans, you must contact your tour operator, airline, accommodation provider or other travel companies to discuss options such as refunds, amendments or postponements.

FCO advice can be found at www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

For trips involving a stopover in an area for which there is a FCO directive in place, you should check with your travel provider to see if they can change your itinerary.

For trips to countries where there has been an outbreak of Coronavirus, but for which no FCO directive is in place, you must contact your travel provider to see if they can assist you with amending your trip.

While we appreciate that you may no longer wish to travel, your insurance will not cover a cancellation claim in these circumstances. Please check your policy terms and conditions to see what cover applies and how much you may be able to claim.

Wellbeing Pack

This pack contains details of relevant partner service providers who can offer information, assistance and advice specific to the current situation we find ourselves in due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Advice around self-isolation, working from home, mental health and financial wellbeing is available in the pack amongst other things, such as links to counselling and wellbeing services.

The list of providers is not exhaustive, but has been selected as being relevant and in line with the National Wellbeing Service, Oscar Kilo.  We have included a handful below with more included in the attached digital ‘Wellbeing Pack’

Oscar Kilo – National Wellbeing Service

Oscar Kilo lead on the National Wellbeing Program. Over recent weeks they have been creating the Coronavirus Hub on their website.

GP24 : Group Insurance Members Access

The GP24 service provides you with unlimited 24/7 access to a practising UK-based GP from wherever you are in the world. Consultations are available 24/7 by phone or by video consultation. This is particularly useful in the current climate with restrictions placed on visiting your own GP surgery.

Rightsteps

Rightsteps are employee health and wellbeing specialists. They have given us free access to their site in relation to ‘COVID-19 and your wellbeing’ for a period of 12 weeks, for which we are extremely grateful. You will see by clicking on the link below that there is a vast amount of information available on the website concerning a wide range of areas. You will also find links to Wellbeing Session, Telephone therapy and Wellbeing Webinars.

Mental Health Foundation

Since 1949, the Mental Health Foundation has been the UK’s leading charity for everyone’s mental health. They have put together an invaluable information page around wellbeing and Coronavirus.

Police Care UK

Police Care UK are a charity for serving and veteran police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families. You can access practical, emotional and financial support that is confidential and impartial by submitting a referral for you or someone you know. A referral can be made by telephone or via the website.
